I’m Shallon Santiago, 5th grade teacher and mom to a 4th and 6th grader. I started this movement because I saw a growing need. Whether at restaurants, where children scroll silently instead of talking with their families, or in classrooms where students sneak glances at their screens beneath their desks. We’re more connected than ever, yet more disconnected from each other.
We’ve been conditioned to scroll without thinking, stare without purpose, and respond to pings more quickly than to people.
This movement is my way of helping shift that. I believe we thrive when we unplug when we talk, listen, create, and just be with one another. My goal is to spark a change in how young people relate to technology so they can reclaim focus, friendships, and real-life joy.
